It’s Friday… but Sunday is coming!!!
It’s finally here, Easter weekend! We have so much good stuff going on this weekend, and I hope you do too. Saturday from 6pm-8pm, we welcome our community to the Great Easter Egg Drop. Food Trucks, inflatables, and of course, the Glow in the Dark Easter Egg Hunt. It’s going to be so much fun.
Sunday is going to be great. We are kicking off a new series called “Heroes.” This week’s message is entitled “We need a hero.” Isn’t that true? If ever we needed a hero in our world, it’s now! It’s going to be a great Sunday. Bring your guests early so you have time to grab a coffee, donut holes, and a good seat. Looking forward to seeing you and meeting your guests!
But Easter weekend starts TODAY on Good Friday. In my BeGroup on Wednesday someone prayed saying, “Knowing what happened that Friday, I always struggle to call it good.”
It’s true. Read the events of Good Friday. It’s heart-wrenching. It’s shocking. God in the flesh prepares for the most intense moment of His life on earth. The disciples run as Jesus is arrested. The trial. The beating. The crucifixion. The burial.
Imagine. God in the flesh. The miracle maker. Dead and buried.
The crowds are gone. The disciples are hiding. Jesus is in a tomb. Night rolls in.
It had to be the longest night ever for the disciples.
From where we sit, we know that Friday was not the end. Friday was dark. But Sunday was coming. And because of Sunday, Friday was Good. It was very good! Jesus paid the payment for our sin, a debt we never could have paid on our own. Friday made forgiveness of sins possible. Turns out that Friday was the most incredible act of kindness and the greatest act of grace that the world has ever seen.
That’s why we are gathering as a church THIS Friday at 7pm for a time of prayer, communion, and worship. Come with your family. Are you seeking healing in your life? Whether that is physical, spiritual, or relational healing, our elders and pastors will be standing by to pray over you and pray with you for the healing that you are seeking. I know it may feel like a dark Friday night in your life, but Sunday IS coming!
I look forward to seeing you this weekend at Believers. Happy Easter!
