Right before the school year began, my husband Ray and I had an extraordinary opportunity: We took several high school students back to camp. Yep, you read that correctly—BACK to camp! Here's the backstory that makes this moment so powerful.
Thanks to your generosity, we sent 80 students to Word of Life Summer Camp this July. It was more than just a trip; it ignited a deep passion for Jesus in our kids. Many returned with a renewed commitment to their faith journey. The following Sunday, our high school students were excited and eager to worship, Bibles and journals in hand, ready to connect with Jesus. Their enthusiasm carried over to a coffee shop after the service, where they wanted to keep the camp spirit alive. They craved more.
On Monday morning, I received a call that went something like this: "Mrs. Ronda, what if a group of us wanted to go back to camp for Week 8?" Without hesitation, I replied, "As many as I can fit in mine and Mr. Ray's cars, we can make it happen!" There is nothing more fulfilling for me than witnessing these students grow in their relationship with Jesus.
At camp round 2, we experienced something special. Psalm 51:6 (Passion Translation) captures it perfectly: "I know that you delight to set your truth deep in my spirit. So come into the hidden places of my heart and teach me wisdom." This was the heart of our students, and Jesus met them there. We witnessed amazing transformations—students breaking free from struggles, healing from past wounds, and igniting a passion to share their faith. They had decided to follow Jesus no matter the cost.
Jack Wyrtzen, founder of Word of Life, said, "It is the responsibility of every generation to reach their generation for Christ." Our students have embraced this mission. They're leading their own groups, inviting friends to church, and sharing the hope of Jesus. One was a guest speaker at our BeGroup Leader Training a couple weekends ago. The impact has been profound.
One powerful story vividly illustrates Jesus' life-changing work in our students. A group of girls chose to forgive past hurts and welcome back a student who had been estranged from their friend group. When she asked why they were showing her love after the pain she had caused, one girl replied, "We have been forgiven, so we can extend forgiveness to you." That night was filled with tears and healing—a profound testament to the transformative power of Jesus' love. Their willingness to forgive changed their hearts and created a ripple effect of hope and redemption that will last a lifetime. Their genuine love and forgiveness even moved a first-time guest unfamiliar with Jesus, showing her the power of community. When we reflect Jesus' love, we create spaces where lives can truly change.
Today, I invite you to reflect on two things:
How can you show Jesus' love and grace to those around you?

God is moving, church! Aren't you glad to be a part of it?!
