If you had the ability to do one thing to make our world better, what would you do?
It's a daunting question. The needs of the world are overwhelming. Would you end all world conflicts? Eradicate disease? Eliminate political division once and for all?
When we think about making the world better, our minds often go to the big stuff—the things that feel far beyond our reach. And because we can't control those things, we end up feeling stuck, discouraged, or even hopeless.
But what if we reframed the question?
What's one thing you could do to make your world better?
This question hits closer to home. It's not about fixing everything—it's about taking a step. You can't control your boss, your kids, or the economy. But you can choose how you act, react, love, and show up in the lives of others.
Jesus had a plan to make our world better. His plan included His conquering of sin and death, but His plan did not end there! His plan involves those who follow Him becoming more and more like Him—reflecting His love, peace, patience, kindness, and all the things our world so desperately needs.
So take a step that could actually make our world better. The more of us who begin to take steps to become more like Jesus, the more rapidly our world improves. Invite someone to come and sit with you at church. That one invitation could be the start of something new in their life, and in yours.
Hope. Change. Healing. It all starts with one step.
P.S. We won't be able to affect the kind of change that we are talking about—making our world better—completely in our own power. Prayer and worship are inspiring and interactive tools that prepare us for what God wants to do in our midst.
