My daughter is getting married. Even writing those words feels surreal. I’m standing in that strange, beautiful place between deep joy and the sobering awareness life moves quickly.
As a dad, I’ve known this day would come. But, let me tell you, nothing can truly prepare you. Not for the moment she steps into that dress. Not for the realization she’s no longer just “daddy’s little girl,” but a woman stepping into a holy covenant.
And yet… there’s peace.
There’s peace not because I’ve figured out how to be the perfect dad (I haven’t), or because I won’t cry (I probably will). There’s peace because I’ve seen God’s faithfulness in every season before, and I trust Him in this one too.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 – “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” This verse reminds us that life is full of changing seasons. Some bring sorrow, others bring joy. Some are full of growth, others of loss. But in every single one, God remains steady.
This season has reminded me that we’re not just church members or ministry workers—we’re fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, friends. And God doesn’t just meet us in worship services or team huddles. He meets us in living rooms, hospital rooms, and yes—even in wedding chapels.
Today is a new season for my daughter—and for me. My role shifts. My grip loosens. But what I gain is a front-row seat to God’s faithfulness. She’s marrying a good man, one who loves Jesus and leads worship. That’s answered prayer. That’s legacy. That’s grace.
So here’s what I want to encourage you with:
Let God meet you in your season. Whether you’re walking through family changes, personal struggles, or quiet growth—He’s there.
Don’t get so caught up in “doing” that you forget to live. The weddings, the parenting moments, the car rides, the Saturday pancakes—these are holy too.
Celebrate the goodness of God. Not only in miracles or mountaintop moments, but in the slow unfolding of His plan. A little girl who once needed my protection now steps into covenant as a wife. That’s grace. That’s God.
Let’s be a church family that trusts Him in every season—even the ones that tug at our hearts the most.
